Are any special electrical, venting, or clearances required for the installation of an infrared sauna?SaunaGen infrared saunas have double-wall construction and are well insulated. The outside of the sauna stays cool so it can be installed directly against a wall. On the top of the unit, where the electronics, air vents and fan are located, you will require a minimum of 2 inches of clearance to the ceiling. You can install your SaunaGen infrared sauna on top of any type of flooring including tile, linoleum, hardwood, laminate floors, or carpet. The sauna is designed to vent directly into the room. Since there is no excessive steam or humidity, an external ventilation system is not required. The one and two person saunas can be plugged into a standard residential 110 volt electrical outlet (these are most often connected to a 15 AMP breaker in your main electrical panel). The larger models (Pro-Health III and Pro-Health C must be plugged into an outlet connected to a 20 AMP breaker. Accordingly, these models are equipped with a special plug that will only plug into a 20 amp electrical outlet. You may need to purchase and install a 20 AMP electrical breaker and a corresponding special wall outlet - both can be purchased at any home store (Home Depot, Lowes, Home Hardware, Rona, etc.) for about $10 each.
