Down Comforters

Down comforters come in a vast array of weights, qualities, colors, and sizes to suit almost every sleepers needs. This can make the selection of the appropriate down quilt for your needs seem a little overwhelming. The easiest way to make the choice is to break the decision down into a number of steps and then go find the appropriate quilt for you.

Choosing a Down Comforter

Sizing a Down Comforter

Down comforters come in as many sizes as beds, plus a few extra sizes. Make sure that you measure your bed in order to make sure that your comforter will be large enough. There's nothing worse than sleeping under a down comforter that is too small. Often times consumers will purchase the next size up in order to make sure that their quilt is over-large.

Down Comforter Thread Count

Just like with any other bedding purchase, the higher the thread count of the outside of your down comforter, the better. This is especially true since the down fill will start to come out of a lower thread count cover.

Down Comforter Fill Options

Some people sleep warmer than others. If you are the type of person who likes to pile on the blankets, you'll want to purchase a comforter with a high fill power. As it is, it will take some time to get used to not having the heavy weight of the extra blankets on you when you sleep. If you prefer a cooler nights sleep, then choose a down comforter with a lower fill power.
