WebEnergy™ application modules are written in PHP4, a flexible, server-side, cross-platform, HTML-embedded scripting language used to create advanced, dynamic web applications. PHP is currently used in more than 1.4 million websites worldwide and has recently surpassed Microsoft's ASP (Active Server Pages) technology in terms of usage for web and other dynamic applications. The surge in PHP's popularity is due in large part to its free availability, being part of the open source community, and similarity to popular programming languages such as C. For the majority of applications, WebEnergy™ modules are designed to integrate with MySQL databases. However, each module can be tooled to integrate with Oracle databases for more complex applications.
