Shallow Shell™ Technology

Purolite SSTC6000E is a specialized polystyrenic gel strong acid cation exchange resin with unique advantages for use in both potable/drinking water and industrial softening applications. It is supplied in the sodium form, but when regenerated with stong acids can be used in demineralization applications. Purolite SSTC6000E resin has short difusion paths due to is Shallow Shell technology. This allows for some unique advantages including very low contaminant leakage, high resistance to iron fouling, lower rinse volumes, reduced operating costs, and excellent physical and chemical stability.

Advantages of SST resin for softening applications:

  • Higher recovered capacity per pound (or kilogram) of salt
  • Better iron removal
  • Lower rinse requirements
  • No equipment modifications needed; suitable for co-flow, counter-flow and packed bed systems
  • Lower leakage at all regenerant levels
  • Less susceptible to fouling
  • Shorter regeneration cycles
  • Excellent physical strength
  • Non-solvent sulfonated
  • More resistant to oxidation
  • Meets NSF/ANSI-61 requirements for International Standard for Drinking Water Additives
  • Supports ISO 14001 initiatives toward environmental management and impact
