Tannins and Organics

Organics and tannin resins have a variety of uses in the water treatment industry. They are most often used to remove naturally-occurring organic matter from water to improve color, taste, and clarity. They also remove the organic precursors that can lead to the formation of disinfection by-products after chlorination, and that reduce UV transmittance thereby reducing the effectiveness of UV sterilization. As there are a very wide range of natural organic compounds that dissolve in surface water, not all organics and tannin resins perform the same on a given water treatment project. Our top selling resin for this purpose is Purolite A860 as we have found it to perform well in the greatest variety of situations, and it is both effective and economical. If you would like assistance selecting the best media for your application, please feel free to contact one of our water treatment technicians.
