Ion Exchange Resins

Ion exchange is one of the most popular and effective tools we have in the water treatment industry. Ion exchange resins are classified as cation resins (those used to remove positively charged ions from the water) and anion resins (those used to remove negatively charged ions from the water). Cation resins are most commonly used for water softening and concurrent removal of iron and manganese. Anion resins are most commonly used to remove color caused by tannins and natural organic matter, and reducing alkalinity. Specialized anion resins are designed to selectively target a wide range of contaminants including uranium, silica, fluoride and more. Certain anion and cation resins can be combined to deionize water for high purity applications. If you would like assistance selecting the best media for your application, please feel free to contact one of our water treatment technicians.
